Established in 1962 by Roy Hairston — and now an industry leader in made-in-America metal building accessories — Metallic Products proudly forged the way for the modern-day accessory industry. Our company began as a trim shop where team members hand-built ventilation products for Mes-Tex Steel Buildings. At a time when most metal building manufacturers were creating their own ventilation accessories, Roy’s approach was revolutionary — providing a smarter, more efficient solution that saved companies time and money.
Word spread quickly about the company’s quality work and attention to detail. Soon, despite its small warehouse, crude dies — and one shared vent assembly table — Metallic Products was serving some of the industry’s largest names. In 1967, Kirby Petroleum purchased Mes-Tex and moved the shop under its main unit. Sensing an opportunity, Roy left to grow Metallic Products into a chartered corporation, attracting top talent and loyal customers along the way.
As demand grew, so did we. A move to a larger facility gave us space to refine manufacturing processes, upgrade technology and modernize operations to stay ahead of increasing competition. It was during this time that Betty Ferguson, our secretary and accountant, made history. Stepping into a sales role in a male-dominated industry, she proved that innovation isn’t just about enhancing technology, but breaking barriers.
In 2002 we relocated to our current home, a 10-acre tract in northwest Houston, a move which allowed us to invest in cutting-edge technology and further expand our offerings. Today, under the guidance of Owner and President Travis Wendt and his team, Metallic Products remains dedicated to work done the right way, every day.
