Spring Cleaning for Metal Building Companies and Beyond

The weather’s warming up, the flowers are blooming and people everywhere are rolling up their sleeves for a bit of spring cleaning. If you thought those seasonal tasks were limited to yard work, closet cleaning and other jobs around your home, however, it might be time to re-evaluate.This time of year offers an ideal opportunity for metal building companies, their clients (and any business, really) to get organized and truly go into the year on the right foot. Here are a few spring cleaning tips to help make life a little easier.

Take Time to Get Your Files in Order
What better place to start your spring cleaning than with overflowing filing cabinets and computer desktops? After all, the start of spring means tax season is just around the corner. Make sure warranty information, necessary receipts and other documentation you’ll need for the coming year (or years) is filed away someplace safe but easily accessible. Along those same lines, discard files you no longer need. Consider taking things a step further by going paperless. Metallic Products recently began offering an e-invoice service, for instance, to help clients cut down on clutter.
Give Your Metal Buildings the Once-Over
Although Metallic Products recommends companies regularly perform checks to make sure their metal buildings remain working their best, we know life can be busy. When creating your spring-cleaning checklist, include a quick building walk-through. Look for anything that might lead to issues down the road, such as drafty windows and doors, signs of mold or rust and even something as seemingly small as a necessary paint touch-up. From there, make a list of repairs and take care of them throughout the year as time and money allow. This approach to building maintenance will likely help you avoid costlier repairs down the road.
Check in on Your Metal Building Accessories
Your metal building accessories help create a safe, healthy and comfortable place to work — that is, when they’re working as they should. As with any product, your louvers, building ventsdoor canopies  and other accessories can find themselves in need of a little TLC. Be on the lookout for tell-tale signs of trouble, such as strange sounds coming from your ventilation system, air flow that isn’t what it should be, increased condensation and even broken bird screens. Be sure to inspect the drainage outlets on your canopies and unclog any drains that may be obstructed by leaves and other debris.

Spring cleaning might seem like a massive undertaking when it comes to your metal buildings, but the key is to take things a step at a time. If you have questions on any of this (or on related issues, such as controlling allergens in your metal building) feel free to reach out to the Metallic Products team. We’re always happy to help!
